ALL DAY PROGRAMS in the Hungarian National Gallery, 12th October 10.00 - 17.00

 

MORGAN STANLEY CHESS CAFÉ 10:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Test your knowledge and challange the chess masters, get the autographs of the Polgar Sisters and Vladimir Kramnik, play with giant chess pieces or simply relax with friends and family in the Chess Café from where you can watch the simultanious chess exhibitions of this year's festival.

CHESS PLAYGROUND 10:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Pre-school children and their parents are invited to the Hungarian National Gallery to try the games of the Chess Playground educational program. The different games displayed are more than fun, they turn on all sensory systems. They develop the ability to plan ahead, logical and abstract thinking, improve problem-solving skills, spatial orientation, visual perception, figure recognition, dexterity - fine motor skills and determination.

CHESS PALACE PROMENADE 10:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Exciting, thought-provoking adventures and challenges for primary school children. At the different stations of the promenade, stamps can be collected into the Chess Palace Passport that children can get at the venue. The parents can also get acquainted with Judit Polgar's Educational Chess Program, its tools and games.

SWEET ART AND CRAFT 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Matyas Szamos was a chess fan. He was a passionate man, who was driven by the same burning fire when he was playing and when creating delicacies. The more than eighty year old brand of Szamos Marzipan would like to pass on this spirituality to those youngsters, who are interested in this wonderful mental sport. Here young and old will get the chance to encounter the sweet foundation of chess and from a variety of divine marzipan create their favorite chess pieces.

CHESS SHOP 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
In between the exciting tournaments and chess games you can visit the stand of the Judit Polgar Webshop, here you can purchase educational chess books, skill developing tools of the Chess Palace and Chess Playground educational programs, you can choose from professional books of Judit Polgar or find chess sets and clock or buy unique products that are available only on the day of the festival.

CHESS, ROBOTS, ART, FINANCE 10:30 AM – 5:30 PM
With the support of OK Education Center trainers, those who are interested can learn not only about chess as a game and a sport, but can also develop their financial, economic and management knowledge. Complementing all this, in a fascinating environment, children and adults alike can learn about the relationship between art & money and the relationship between career and success.

HOW TO IMPROVE ONE'S MINDSET 10:30 AM - 4:00 PM
The Hősök Tere team will feature their Growth Mindset program, to show what is necessary to undertake unknown challenges with more confidence and success and to make us forget phrases such as “I’m not good at this”...”I won’t be able to do that”. While the children will be playing, the parents and teachers can learn how to praise the children effectively.

POLI-FARBE MAGIC PAINTING 10:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Children who wish to give wings to their creativity will have the opportunity this year again to create their imaginative world on the Poli-Farbe easels and make the Chess Palace characters come alive on the canvas.

CHESS AND MATH 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM
In addition to being the best game in the world the chess also has rich mathematical qualities. The board with its humble harmony of the eight-by-eight grid and magical moves of the pieces, it gives a variety of mathematical characteristics: fascinating problems in geometry, combinatorics, game theory and computer programming.

SIMUL WITH THE POLGAR SISTERS 11:00 AM- 5:00 PM
The traditional and popular simultaneous chess exhibitions are back this year again. Once again the Polgar sisters are waiting for the challengers! During the simultaneous chess games with Judit Polgar, you can also witness contemporary artist Andras Gyorfi in his creative work.

MAGICAL PAINTBRUSH 10:30 - 11:30 AM
In the middle of the excitement of the simultaneous chess games, András Győrfi paints the magic of chess and creates an even more special atmosphere.

CHESS CONNECTS CONFERENCE 2:00 PM- 5:30 PM
The conference aims to demonstrate the diversity of chess: how it appears in the arts, how it contributes to science, what opportunities it offers in education and how it develops as a sport. The presentations will be interesting not only for chess players but also for those who have nothing to do with the game. Speakers from around the world come from Chile, USA, Spain, Israel, England, Russia and Hungary.

 

CHESS TOURNAMENTS 

THE INSPIRATION CUP 10:00 AM – 12:30 AM - ALSO ONLINE
The “Inspiration Cup” will be one of the highlights of this year’s festival where, for the very first time, the popular partner game of “Hand & Brain” will take place between 4 Grandmaster couples. “Hand & Brain” is a very entertaining chess variant where in a team of two players, one player is the “hand” and the other is the “brain”. The “brain” calls out a piece (let’s say a pawn) and the “hand” has to decide which pawn to move and where. If you can't make it to Budapest, watch the tournament LIVE online!

CHESS PALACE CUP IN MEMORY OF DEZSO TANDORI 10:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Chess tournament for precshool and primary school children. This year the little participants will be able to play in a special enviroment filled with Dezso Tandori's chess rhymes. Tandori too was devoted to the love of chess and in collaboration with Judit Polgar created unique and inimitable chess rhymes for the Chess Playground, proving that chess and literature are both part of the creative process.

FUTURE CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE 10:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Almost 15 countries will have represantatives of little chess champions to challange each other and the best players get the chance to win valuable prices. The winner of the Future Champions tournament will get and invitation to visit the 82th Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2020 world famous event in Wijk aan Zee, Holland. The winner of the second place will get the chance to participate in one of the biggest Eropean chess tournaments in 2020 with the sponsorship of Flashpoint.

CHESS CHALLANGE 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Tournament for enthusiastic ameteur chess players between the age of 4-120. Open to all unrated players and FIDE-registered players up to 2000 points.

 

Admission is free for all programs.
