GENERATION CLASH CHESS TOURNAMENT

As part of the Judit Polgár Global Chess Festival, the Generation Clash Tournament returns after a long break! The aim of the tournament is to bring different generations together to enjoy chess in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Who can participate?
We welcome two-player, multi-generational family teams (child and parent or grandparent). The team’s average rating must not exceed 1800 rapid Elo, and the higher-rated player’s rating may not exceed 2000 rapid Elo.

Tournament format:
- 5-round Swiss system
- Each team has 10 minutes per game + a 2-second increment per move
- The two members of each team play together on one board, taking turns to make moves (a four-player/tandem chess game)
- Team members may not communicate with each other in any way during the game
- A win is worth 1 point, a loss 0 points, and a draw ½ point for each team

⚠️ Please note that places are limited due to the capacity of the venue, so early registration is recommended.
Tournament schedule | 10:30–14:00
- On-site registration: 10:30–10:50
- Opening: 10:50–11:00
- Rounds: Round 1: 11:00, Round 2: 11:30, Round 3: 12:00, Round 4: 12:30, Round 5: 13:00
- Planned awards ceremony: 13:45
Prizes:
Every team will receive a certificate of participation.
The teams finishing 1st–3rd will receive prizes/gifts.

Progressive score (cumulative score after each round)
The organizers reserve the right to make changes to any part of the tournament regulations.
