THE MASTER RELAY SIMUL
September 26, Saturday
Hungarian National Gallery, 0,5th floor
10:30-17:30

Chess is a game of adaptation, one of the most valuable skills in today's world. This unique simul exhibition brings that idea to life. Across 16 boards, a relay of chess masters takes turns continuing each other's games. As one master steps away, another takes over the exact same position, bringing a fresh style, perspective, and strategy. For the players, every change forces a rethink. Plans must be reassessed and opportunities seized in an instant. Success here relies on quick adaptation, not just calculation. As soon as a game ends, a new challenger takes the seat, keeping the action alive from the festival's opening move to the final handshake.
Throughout the day, true chess legends and outstanding grandmasters will take turns at the boards: Judit Polgar, multiple Chess Olympiad silver medalist Zoltan Almasi, Olympic champion Sofia Polgar, Grandmaster Krisztian Szabo, and other masters. Which one of them will you face? You’ll only find out when you sit down at the chessboard! 😲✨
The programme is for enthusiastic amateur chess players rated up to 1800 Elo.
Registration: on site.
More than an exhibition, the Master Relay Simul celebrates flexible thinking. It is a reminder that in chess, as in life, those who embrace change find the best moves.
